FURIA ease past ATK in BLAST NA Showdown

The replacement team were unable to make a dent against the Brazilian giants.

In the second quarterfinal match of the BLAST Spring Showdown North America, FURIA have taken down ATK 2-0 in swift fashion. Following the travel issues for Sharks, ATK were invited to fill the spot of the Brazilian squad, having placed second in the Ace North American Masters qualifying event.

ATK recently underwent a roster change when Erik "⁠truth⁠" Hansen Dyrnes departed the team due to health reasons. The lineup found a replacement in Michael "⁠Swisher⁠" Schmid, who had just become free following the disbanding of Orgless.

FURIA will face GODSENT in the semifinals

The quarterfinal series kicked off on Inferno, which saw the international team take some early rounds and earn a 6-3 lead. However, the defense of FURIA started to warm up, and the Brazilian squad won out the rest of the half to lead 9-6. This momentum carried over into their T side, with FURIA easily closing out the map 16-8.

FURIA's own pick of Vertigo ended up even more one-sided, with ATK only winning a single round following a ninja defuse from Gareth "⁠MisteM⁠" Ries. Brazilian youngster André "⁠drop⁠" Abreu also scored his highest map rating ever, 2.05, posting a 100% KAST and 109 ADR.

With the victory, FURIA have moved on to the semifinals of the Showdown, where they are set to face off against domestic rivals GODSENT. Before that though, there are still two remaining quarterfinals featuring Complexity, MIBR, Liquid, and paiN to be played. Both matches will take place Friday, April 29.
